What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing that can be traced back over 5000 years to China, Japan and other Eastern cultures, it is based on the belief that there is a life force of vital energy, called Qi (Pronounced “Chee”) which is present in all living organisms.

Acupuncture stimulates the body to produce its own pain relieving chemicals called “endorphin”. These chemicals mimic morphine by attaching to opiate receptor sites found throughout the nervous system. Endorphin help to block pathways that relay pain messages from the body to the brain, resulting in relief of pain, general relaxation and biochemical restoration of the body’s own internal regulation system.

The improved energy and bio-chemical balance produced by acupuncture stimulates the body’s natural healing abilities, thereby reducing inflammation and promoting physical well-being.

Acupuncture is the use of very fine disposable sterile needles inserted at specific points of the body to re-balance the internal environment, and thus treat disease. Western science has proven that acupuncture can regulate the body by many mechanisms, including stimulating the endocrine, circulatory, and nervous systems.
